City of Gastonia Permitting Portal and Gaston County Citizen Self Service links are available through the PDF.
We are happy to announce that we are live with a new permitting system, CityView, as of July 8th, 2020. CityView Portal gives residents and contractors 24/7 convenience when applying for permits, making payments, viewing review status of applications and scheduling inspections. It has many functionalities with the customer in mind.

Steps Applying for a Zoning Change of Use (previously known as a Certificate of Compliance) Permit1. Complete the appropriate online supplemental form (supplemental forms are listed below after these instructions). After you submit your form, you will receive a copy as a PDF by email. The supplemental form is a requirement to complete; however, it is NOT the permit application.
2. Register on the City of Gastonia CityView Portal at https://devsvcs.cityofgastonia.com/.3. Apply on the City of Gastonia CityView portal for a Zoning Certificate of Compliance permit. YOU will need to attach (upload) your supplemental form in this step.
* Tips when applying for a Zoning Change of Use permit. * a) Select Apply for a Permit under the heading Zoning and Other b) Choose the Application Type: Change of Usec) Complete all remaining questions and steps. In step 7: Upload Files – Upload your appropriate supplemental form.
4. After staff reviews your application, you will receive an email instructing you to pay. You will not be able to pay the fees until after staff review. Once you receive your email, go to My Shopping Cart at the top of the CityView portal home page (https://devsvcs.cityofgastonia.com/) and pay the fee.
